In proposing the subject of 'organization design' or 'organization designer', the author contrasts it to the way "organization" is disucussed in business manegerial theory where such words as "compete", "survive", "conquer" become keywords.
He proposes the concept of 'well-being' of organization as objective or meaning of organization (that is, what is beyond "compete", "survive", "conquer", etc.). It is not proposed as a condition for the well-being of organization's constituents, but the well-being of constituents itself.
The consitituents of organization is diverse individuals. Hence "well-being" means diverse well-beings. The author takes a kind of teleological stance toward 'organization' or 'diversity of individuals', with viewing organization as complex system (fixing the present organization is like taking a snap shot of water wave which is formed by diverse movements of water particles).
